Pricing

Free to list.Keep 92.5%, card fees included.

No listing fees, no subscription, no lock-in. Owners pay 7.5% when a hire happens and we cover the card fees out of it. Renters pay a small service fee, shown in full before they book.

What owners pay

Listing is free and stays free. When someone hires your item, Ndolula keeps 7.5% of the hire and the rest is yours. On a $100 hire that is $7.50, so you receive $92.50.

Flat, at every hire value, with no fixed fee and no thresholds. And nothing is deducted for card processing — Stripe’s fees come out of our commission, not your payout, which is not how most marketplaces do it. The bond and any delivery fee pass through to you in full.

What renters pay

The owner’s rate plus a service fee of 99c and 6% of the hire, dropping to 3% on the part of a hire above $500. On a $100 hire that is $6.99.

The fee is itemised at checkout before you commit, never folded into the rate. The only other amount on your card is the refundable bond, and on most bookings that is a hold rather than a charge.

Why it tapers

A flat percentage does not match what a booking actually costs to run. Part of the cost is fixed — card processing, identity checks, the dispute process — and part scales with the amount. Charging a small fixed fee plus a percentage matches that, and the band above $500 does the rest, so our combined take falls as hires get larger:

  • $20 hire — $3.69 across both sides, or 18.5%
  • $100 hire — $14.49, or 14.5%
  • $500 hire — $68.49, or 13.7%
  • $1,000 hire — $120.99, or 12.1%
  • $5,000 hire — $540.99, or 10.8%

Every threshold is marginal and there is no cap, so a dearer hire always costs proportionally more, never less. For comparison, Airbnb takes around 17% once both sides are counted and Camplify around 20%, and on those the owner pays card processing on top.

Bonds

A bond is security, not income. On most bookings it sits as an authorisation on your card and is voided once the owner confirms the item came back as it left, so no money ever moves. On longer bookings, where an authorisation would expire before the hire ends, it is charged up front and refunded instead. We tell you which applies before you book.

  • Owners choose the bond amount when they list.
  • Most bonds clear within one business day of return.
  • Neither side is charged a fee on a bond.
  • A bond only reaches an owner if they raise a damage claim and our team upholds it, and never for more than the bond itself.

Payouts

Funds land in your account after the return is confirmed, usually within one business day. Payouts run through Stripe, which is why we ask for your bank details during onboarding.

Payouts are released once the rental is completed and a 48-hour claim window has passed. The wait is deliberate: paying at pickup would mean a damaged return could not be put right.

Payment processing

Processing is our cost, not yours

Every payment on Okonomi runs through Stripe, and Stripe charges for it. Those charges come out of our commission, not your payout, so the figure you are quoted is the figure that lands in your account.
